Souvenirs M is a horse with endless reserves of energy. The key to his diet is therefore choosing feeds that do not add still more of it, or he becomes too hot and boils over in his head. It also matters that the feeds let him keep the right muscling without a shot of extra energy. Then he feels at his best in body and mind. A very important part of the chestnut's day is his post-work soup in the form of a little mash, given as a daily ritual. As an allergic horse he also needs his daily portion of herbs, which keep his airways clear and the cough away, so he does not need medicine or artificial supplements.

He is an extraordinarily intelligent horse with a strong character. Once he is on your side, being on his back opens up entirely new possibilities and the feeling that anything is possible. He loves challenges, jumping, work without a bridle and trips to the woods, where he can gallop on ahead.

Zuza is introducing the diet prepared by our nutritionist Ania. It covers her chestnut's basic needs and is built around his allergy problems.

His diet is based on two basic feeds:

Care, which plays first fiddle, is a feed for horses prone to ulcers. It is based on high-fibre ingredients, ryegrass and dried alfalfa, supports the gut flora and supplies an optimum amount of slow-release energy, so it does not cause hyperactivity. That makes it much easier to work with a sensitive horse like Kasztan, and it also looks after his digestive system.

* It is worth adding that the Care feed we created contains only about 8% starch and sugar combined, and 1 kg of feed supplies 7.7 MJ of energy.

Turbo Pony (as much as 14.5% protein) tops up the diet with the protein Kasztan needs to hold the right weight and build muscle in training. This feed also has a relatively low energy level, 8.5 MJ.

The Grassland horse's diet also includes a mash, prepared every day as a fourth meal at afternoon snack time. To vary it, he gets Flower Mash and Fruity Mash in turn.

Because Kasztan is allergic and coughs, he receives the herbal respiratory supplement Light Breath every day, with the basic feed or the mash. It makes him feel much better!

This diet lets Kasztan hold the right condition. If he runs short of energy, Zuza covers it by adding linseed oil.
