Jaktata, “Jadzia”, and her owner Sandra (@atlanto_team) are among the winners of the Food Book competition on Instagram, in which they won a free nutrition consultation. Jadzia's diet was built to match her needs as an energetic young Thoroughbred mare in regular showjumping training.
The base of the diet is Ceremony Muesli. Because the vet recommended an oat-free diet, the mix was chosen to supply energy from safe, slow-release sources. Ceremony Muesli contains only barley as its cereal, and the recipe is based on dried alfalfa, rich in high-quality protein, and on high-fibre ingredients. The feed therefore supports muscle development and the growth of a young horse without causing hyperactivity. The Grassland Everyday Care supplement in the feed supplies the right amount of high-quality vitamins and minerals and looks after Jadzia's condition, coat and hooves ✨
Every meal is completed with alfalfa chaff, which supports healthy digestion and the work of the stomach and also lengthens eating time, so she is calmer while feeding.
At lunch Jadzia also receives sunflower hulls, a valuable source of natural fats and fibre, and the herbal supplement Calm Down, which supports emotional balance and helps limit hyperactivity in training. Used regularly, it lets the mare stay focused on the task, which means better cooperation with the rider.
After harder sessions, three times a week, Isotonic Mash is added as an extra recovery meal. It replaces lost electrolytes, supports hydration and the digestive system, and is easy to digest and readily eaten 😋
Jadzia tends to sweat even on light lunge days or when ridden on the flat, so she receives EquiHydrate electrolytes. They help replace lost minerals quickly, prevent dehydration and support recovery after work.
The diet is balanced to support the development of a young sport horse and to build muscle without over-exciting her. As training gets harder, the amounts will be adjusted gradually, and products with a higher energy concentration may be introduced if Jadzia needs them.
